Oyster Flavor Tasting Wheel

I designed a tasting wheel as part of our educational training materials. I wanted the wheel to communicate the tasting process, which involves three distinct steps. I used a Pantone swatch and organized the colors along a general color spectrum, but specific colors were chosen based on what the descriptors evoked.

The main challenge with this design was figuring out how to space text radially in each pie segment of the circle. Illustrator did not have a function to automatically distribute text radially, so all text was manually spaced by using rotate and type on path.
