I planned out my schedule this semester so that I would be able to cook more because it’s nice to eat home-cooked meals. Made a simple soft tofu stir-fry with mushrooms and cilantro. The great thing about mushrooms is that you do not always need to add sauce because it lets out a delicious juice that flavors your other ingredients.

What this is supposed to remind me of: the week of hell without any means of heating food.

I moved into my new apartment, but for some reason, there was no gas for the stove, and I didn’t have a microwave yet. I couldn’t even get hot water just to have oatmeal. It was a long week of salsas, rotisserie chicken from the store, caprese salads, and a ton of milk and cereal. It was a sad sad week. But it definitely made me stronger, especially as a cook. I made a bunch of non-heated meals with fresh ingredients - fruits, herbs, vegetables, cheeses, and whole wheat grains. And also made me into a free-loader at Jonathan’s place.

It can be a drag to still be a student, but sometimes, there are perks — like being at BU for Lobster Night! Supposedly, every year, BU makes the nation’s largest single order of lobster just for the occasion.
